Heritage at Lord Botetourt

The Pioneers were looking to repeat as state champs, but in the first quarter, KJ Vaughan gets picked off by James-Ryan Salvi, who takes it into the end zone. Pick-6 and then a two-point conversion gives LB an 11-0 lead.

In the second quarter, Heritage QB Kameron Burns fires high and deep down the sideline for a streaking Kyron Thomas. The Pioneers answer right away, and the Cavaliers lead 11-7.

Later Salvi keeps it and gets in for his second score of the game as Botetourt extends its lead to 18-7.

On the ensuing kickoff, things broke down for the Cavaliers thanks to Brian Trent. He gets passed everybody and takes it to the house. Heritage with an immediate answer, and it was 18-14 at the half.

Moving to the third quarter, Heritage on a 4th down, looking to take the lead, but the pass is picked off by Hunter Rice. Pioneers had a touchdown called back by a penalty on that drive and walk away with nothing.

A couple drives later, Rice on the direct snap fights his way in.

Lord Botetourt, after losing in Lynchburg a year ago, takes down Heritage 25-14 to advance to the Class 3 state final against Hopewell at Liberty.
