ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) -- The Cave Spring Knights have faced their fair share of adversity off the field already in 2019.
Because of construction at the high school, the team has been practicing at Cave Spring Middle School's Bogle Stadium.
"We're here practicing. Our school is being remodeled so we've overcome shifting over here every day," said head coach Tim Fulton. "Of course, first day of school trying to get things up and rolling, and the young men seem to have adapted to that. Shut down our weight room a couple of times, and they've adapted to that so I'm really proud of how they faced that adversity come through."
The Knights will rely on playmakers like quarterback Lucas Duncan and John Milby, who moves to tailback and will also play inside linebacker.
Fulton said there's plenty of improvement to be had, especially in the trenches.
"We need to take care of the ball on offense," he said. "Defensively, we need to tackle a little bit better, to be honest with you, so we've been doing a fair number of non-contact tackling drills and we're pushing pretty hard in our drill-work offensive line-wise."
