Hokies, Flames raise $36,000 for Hurricane Michael relief

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ) -- Virginia Tech and Liberty University might be competitive on the court, but Sunday, they were on the same team, raising $36,000 for Hurricane Michael relief with an exhibition at the Vines Center.

In a tightly contested first half, Justin Robinson inbounds to freshman Isaiah Wilkins. Bucket to get within one, 22-21 Flames.

You're gonna want to keep your eyes on that guy this season, because he can do this. Next possession, from behind the arc. Sinks the three for the Hokie lead, just before Liberty goes on a 9-zero run, all made up of threes.

Elijah Cuffee to start it out. Makes his move and Liberty back on top, 25-24. Cuffee in a rhythm. Nothing but net. And the razzle dazzle continues. This time Cuffee to Keenan Gumbs. Magic. 31-26 for the home team. All of that in 30 seconds.

But Tech can work the clock too. Shot clock winding down. Robinson again to Wilkins. In the knick of time. 16 points on the day for the freshman.

But the moment of the half, belonging to Liberty. Caleb Homesley going backdoor for the dunk. 37-36 Flames at the break.

But the game would belong to Tech. 86-70, the final.

Justin Robinson with 20 points.
