Liberty at Amherst

AMHERST COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ7) -- Amherst County nearly pulled off its first win of 2018 last week with a huge upset of Jefferson Forest, but the Lancers couldn't close the deal.

Week 8: Liberty at Amherst

Tonight they returned home to face Liberty and the winner could make a serious jump in the district standings.

Frank Ross led his team onto the field tonight and he also led the Lancers to the first score of the night.

On the opening drive, Ross is boss. He takes the handoff and runs to his right, breaking off a little something in the form of a 50 yard touchdown stroll and Amherst led this thing 7-nothing.

The Minutmen coming back, John Gass with the nifty finger tip catch on third down to keep the drive alive.
But on the next play, the Lancers defense makes a play. They get the redzone pick as Andre Brown is there for the interception.

In the middle of the second quarter, Liberty gets on the board with the 55 yard strike from Tyler Hensley to Roman Ridley on the big play to make it 7-7.

Just before the half, Ross does it again on a 29 yard touchdown run to make it a 14-7 game, but Liberty came back to win it 28 to 21 the final.
