LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) - Liberty Football Coach Hugh Freeze returned to a hospital Wednesday.

Freeze had been dealing with a severe staph infection, which Liberty's President Jerry Falwell said had been life-threatening at one point.

Liberty officials tell WDBJ Freeze went back to a hospital to get an MRI on his back to check progress. He is already out.

Liberty opens its season at home against Number 22 Syracuse Saturday.
