Lord Botetourt at Brookville

CAMPBELL COUNTY, VA (WDBJ7) -- The Lord Botetourt Cavaliers opened their season against the Brookville Bees. The Cavaliers fresh off a state semifinal appearance a year ago, and Coach Jamie Harless added some new pieces in the offseason in the form of several transfers.

The Bees came to play tonight, making LB earn everything.

Early on, it's Evan Eller fielding the punt and he's gonna make this thing interesting, staring right but then cutting back left and getting a block. Eller bulls his way all the way down to the Brookville 18 yard line to put the Cavaliers in business.

Then they give it to the workhorse, Hunter Rice. He rounds the corner and takes it down to the five, but Rice rolled his ankle on the play.

Ethan Clower then opened the scoring on the short yardage TD to make it 7-nothing Botetourt.

The Bee defense got a score off a turnover but a missed PAT made it 7-6. Daquan Calloway had two picks off James Ryan Salvi tonight and Brookville led 9-7 late before Botetourt got a late TD to win it 15 to 9.
