DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7)-- Magna Vista and George Washington both featured high powered run games. The Warriors and Eagles met Friday night in Danville in a matchup of the two best teams in the Piedmont District.
Starting at halftime and the Warriors are down 6 to 7, but out of the half, they'd go right to the air with a pass from Dryus Hairston to Chris Ellison for the first down.
Two plays later, Hairston goes back to the air to Louis Taylor for the touchdown. Magna Vista puts in the two-point conversion going up 14 to 7.
On the next Eagles possesion, after driving the ball into the redzone, Willie Edmunds takes the handoff all the way home, knotting the game up 14 to 14.
After an eagles stop, they'd try to punch in it with Wesley Graves but the Warriors come up with a crucial 4th down stop. GW would get the ball back after a three-and-out and Edmunds would make a few moves to get the Eagles down the field.
A few plays later, GW fumbles the snap giving the ball back to the Warriors. After the turnover, Hairston connects with Ellison down the field again for a first down. Hairston then takes care of business with a short run for the touchdown, Warriors take the lead in the fourth 21 to 14.
The Eagles would look to answer but Rion Martin comes up with a pick for the Warriors, and they go on to win the game from there, 28 to 14.
