GALAX, Va. (WDBJ7) -- Galax had won 10 in a row against Narrows including last year's one point win in the regional final.
The Maroon Tide and Green Wave met again in a matchup of 10 and 2 teams this afternoon in Galax.
Mark Dixon's Maroon Tide was out to advance to the state semis for the fourth consecutive year.
And the Tide dominated the Green Wave up front. Blake Brown's 35 yard scamper to the endzone made it 21-nothing Galax at the end of one quarter.
The defense came to play as well. Isaac Hawks making the play for a loss as Narrows struggled to get anything going, passing midfield just once.
That was only the beginning. On the next possession, it's Cole Pickett putting it up for Cade Ashworth and he wins the battle for the touchdown to make it a 28 point bulge.
Brown did the rest. He slips through the line of scrimmage and dances to his second score of the day and the rout was on.
Brown scored once more before the half and Galax cruised to the shutout win, 55 to nothing. They'll face the winner of Chilhowie and PH Glade Spring next weekend.
"I thought our athleticism up front was the difference, certainly defensively. We were able to make some plays in the backfield early and then offensively, I thought the offensive line was able to get us on the perimeter there early in the game. This is the fourth year in a row that we've been to the semifinals and we've only gotten to the big dance one time out of those four years so I don't know how to gauge it," Mark Dixon, Galax head coach.
"It's great to be here with all my guys and Coach Dixon and the other coaches. We love the feeling, playoff football," said Blake Brown, Galax player.
