CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WDBJ) -- UVA football is in the AP top 25 poll for the first time in seven years.
Coming in at number 23, they are also the highest ranked team in the ACC, beating out the Hokies for the top spot in the conference. It was also a big weekend for wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus, who broke the all-time UVA record for most career receptions in Saturday's win over North Carolina.
"He's hungrier to be better, he also knows and we've talked really bluntly that if he doesn't play well we don't have a great chance to win," head coach Bronco Mendenhall said.
"O does a great job, he never said anything about it, if you asked he would probably say it's good, but he still has things to work on and that's just the guy he is. It's great for him, I'm happy for him, he definitely deserves it, he's one of the hardest working guys and a great leader," junior quarterback Bryce Perkins said.
"A lot of eyes on me, a lot of people counting on me, depending on me, not only on the field, but just as an energy source on the sidelines and everything. No matter what's going on during the game I've always tried to be somebody that the team can look to as an example," Zaccheaus said.
