CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) -- Christiansburg and Patrick County met for the first time in more than 3 decades Friday.
Gloomy weather to start, but it cleared up a little right after kickoff.
The Cougars got the ball first and were trying to establish a run game with Daeshawn Penn rumbling up the middle, plus 15 yards yards for a facemask pentaly, Patrick Co. was on the move.
Christiansburg's Defense then steps-up its play with a big 3rd down stop on the nice pass break-up by Brandon Cox.
The Blue Demons then wastle little time scoring, with a beautiful 41 yard TD pass from MJ Hunter, connecting with Trevor Simpkins. Its 7-0 CBurg.
The Blue Demons back on offense again, watch what happens to Maston Stanley, as his helmet gets spun completely around and he is running blind. The refs are forced to blow the play dead after Stanley removed it so he could see. He had an open path the downslines and might have scored.
Three plays later the team rewards Stanley for his toughness, feeding him the ball on 1st and goal, and it's 14-nothing.
Now later in the 2nd the Cougars finally get some points with the big run from Penn, he goes 33 yards for the TD. That made it 14-7 but Christiansburg too tough as the Blue Demons roll to the 48-14 win.
