VINTON, Va. (WDBJ7)-- Roanoke Catholic took on Portsmouth Christian in the VISAA state semis.

Early on, the Celtics Jerel Rhodes had the handoff and picked up a good gain, but gets stripped at the end of the run and the Patriots Tim Montgomery heads the other way to the house. He brings it a big 80 yards on the fumble return for the only score in the first half as Catholic trailed 7-0.

In the third quarter, Kawuan Ray takes off over the left side. Ray slips a tackle and scoots 43 big yards down inside the visitors 20 yard line.

Two plays later, it's Ray again, taking it 18 yards on the touchdown to make it a 7-6 ballgame.

On the two-point conversion, it's Jackson Rice who slid in and Catholic goes on to win it 22-13, surviving and advancing to the state title game next week.
