SALEM, Va. (WDBJ7) -- It was senior night Friday for the home team. Salem on top 7-3, when we pick it up in the third.
Isaiah Persinger put on a show, dodging Cougars left and right, he scampered 21 yards for 6, making it 14-3.
But Pulaski was on the hunt. Kade Akers with a 50 yard zinger and Noah O'dell mustered up an incredible catch, bringing some Spartans down with him.
Pulaski deep in Salem territory. Fourth and goal, Akers rushed for the endzone. But the refs called it back, no points for Pulaski.
Still 14-3 taking it back the other way. Jack Gladden gave it to a new number: Zavione Woods. The sophomore got a love tap from the sidelines in the drive that made it 21-3.
Not much time left for Pulaski, as we head into the fourth quarter. Wes Riddle ran up the middle and crossed the goal line to make it 21-10.
But Salem knew how to wind that clock down. The game was theirs 21-10. A big boost for the Spartans as they head into the postseason.
"They're physical and play old school football so I thought we played pretty well to be able to top the clock a little bit and I'm just proud of where we came from in the beginning of the year," Salem Head Coach Stephen Magenbauer said.
"Anytime you can win against a good team it means something and we needed this game so hopefully it will keep things going and we'll have a good week of practice and be ready for the playoffs."
