Radford Grad Gardiner Suits Up For Pulaski Yankees

The Pulaski Yankees returned to historic Calfee Park today to put the finishing touches on preparations for tomorrow night's Appalachian League opener against the Danville Braves.
The Pulaski roster includes Nick Nelson, a right handed pitcher who was a fourth round pick a few weeks ago out of Gulf Coast State Junior College in Florida.
Middle infielder Josh Gardiner has also been assigned to the Yankees. Gardiner played collegiately just down the road at Radford University. He had been playing in the Frontier League since the college season ended, but got a text message that he'd been picked up by the Yankees. Gardiner signed his first contract yesterday.
"When they said "you're going to Pulaski" I was really, really happy," said Gardiner. "Being a Radford kid I got all my Tech friends, Radford friends and just the counties surrounding. I know a lot of people."
