Roanoke Catholic Building On 2016 State Title

The Roanoke Catholic Celtics might be one of the smaller teams here in town, but the Celtics boast three straight appearances in the Independent Schools state championship, taking home two titles along the way. And they expect to be competing for even more hardware this season.
"Our expectations are always high, says Head Coach Bob Price. "We want to improve everyday that we come to practice. We want to take care of the little things because we know the big things will take care of themselves, and we just are looking forward to week one. We know it's a new year. We celebrated last year, had a great victory, a great championship. But it's about going back and getting to work, learning the fundamentals, and trying to improve."
Because of their recent success, the Celtics have seen their numbers grow to 38 players on the team this season, when they are typically down in the 20's. And the extra depth will help, knowing the bullseye is on their back entering 2017.
