The field for the NCAA Division Three baseball tournament came out Monday, and for the first time in school history, Roanoke College will be one of the 56 teams vying to win a national championship.

Roanoke has drawn the 6-seed in the South Regional, and will open up play against top seeded Salisbury in Danville on Thursday. The regional will be a double-elimination format, which is nothing new to the Maroons.

The Maroons lost in the opening round of the ODAC tournament, only to fight their way back to a championship. And the team will rely on that experience in the regionals.

"Oh, absolutely. I think that's huge," Coach Matt McGuire said Monday. "Like, we know we're never out of it now, and it gives you all of the confidence in the world movin forward. You get to postseason baseball, anybody can win it and everybody's pretty good."
