Salem at Christiansburg

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) The Salem Spartans last lost a River Ridge District game in 2011.

That loss came to Christiansburg. On Friday night the Blue Demons tried to kick start their season with what would be a monumental upset against the Spartans.

Friday's game in Christiansburg would be all about long runs. On the second play of the game, the Spartans' Riley Fox too off for more than 50 yards for the score.

But the Blue Demons respond immediately. On their first offensive play Jared Simpkins used the stiff arm on his way to a nearly 70 yard TD.

But that party was short-lived as on their first play after the kickoff, De'angelo Ramsey took off for 65 yards and another score! That's three touchdowns in three plays!

The Spartans would hold the Blue Demons on defense, and on offense we'd see one of the craziest plays Friday night. After being stopped to the right, Ramsey says I'm going the other way and leaves all 11 defenders behind!

The Spartans blew out Christiansburg, 66-7.
