Salem at Hidden Valley

CAVE SPRING, Va. (WDBJ7)-- The Salem Spartans made their second trip to Bogle Stadium Friday in as many weeks, this time to face Hidden Valley.

FFE: Salem at Hidden Valley

On the opening drive, Hidden Valley's Grayson Carroll goes over the middle, but Salem's Jorden McDonald is all over the receiver to break up the pass.

Something else you see a lot of is Isaiah Persinger. With a hole big enough for a mac truck, he goes for about 20 yard.

On that same drive, Persinger goes to the far sideline then makes a move inside to find an opening all the way to the endzone for the quick Spartan score. This gives Salem a 7-0 lead.

Next Titans drive, Carroll goes to the air on third down, but there's nobody in the same area code. A pass interference call on Salem brings a fresh set of downs for Hidden Valley.

But it's back to third down again when Shawn Collins sniffs out the pass and shuts down the Titans drive.

Salem playing to the weather by keeping it on the ground. It's Persinger again fighting for every single yard.

Persinger lined up at fullback takes the quick handoff right up the middle and runs for his second touchdown of the game.

Weaver trying to rally his Titans after falling in a 14-0 hole in the first quarter. But again that strong Spartan defense shuts down another drive for Hidden Valley.

The rain not silencing the Pride of Salem. Spartans looking to extend their lead, but Jack Gladden fakes the toss, rolls out, gets sacked. He fumbles, but Avery Close is there to scoop it up for Salem. Close takes it for a touchdown.

Two plays later, it's Persinger for the hat trick score as the Spartans slay the Titans, 49-14.
