Sean Savoy and Rico Kearney transfer days before UVA match up

BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ) -- It's do or die time for the Virginia Tech football team. The Hokies could see their win streak over UVA and their 25 year bowl streak come to an end this weekend.

But Coach Justin Fuente has even more problems to worry about with word that linebacker Rico Kearney was transferring over the weekend followed by Sean Savoy's announcement today that he was leaving as well.

"We wish Rico and Sean nothing but the best. We have a lot invested in those young men and their future. We've been through a lot with both of them, honestly, more than what most people know, nothing bad with their behavior but just been through a lot trying to help them grow up and mature, and sometimes it's hard on young players when they are forced into action before they are ready. We know it's not indicative of our whole football team. We've got guys out there, a whole bunch of guys that are really focused on trying to do our best to send this senior class out the right way," Fuente said.
