UVA's Mamadi Diakite declaring for the NBA Draft

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) -- The Virginia Cavaliers will look much different as they try to repeat as champions of NCAA hoops next season.

Junior forward Mamadi Diakite announced via Instagram that he will be declaring for the 2019 NBA Draft.

Diakite joins teammates Ty Jerome, DeAndre Hunter, and Kyle Guy, who all recently announced their intentions to go pro.

The Junior forward wasn't clear on whether he will sign with an agent, so it's unclear whether he is looking for feedback on his draft stock or looking to stay in the draft pool.

Diakite was not known as a top-flight scorer at UVA but brought a much needed defensive anchor presence to the NCAA National Champions. He's coming off of a season in which he averaged 7.4 ppg., 4.4 rpg., and 1.7 bpg., in 38 contests.
