VT, UVA Quarterbacks On Maxwell Award Watch List

The watch list season for college football is here and Monday the Maxwell Award which goes to the nation's player of the year, released its preseason list which includes a Hokie and a Hoo.

Tech QB Ryan Willis is on the list after starting 10 games last season. Willis threw for more than 27 hundred yards and 24 touchdowns. The Kansas native also ran for 354 yards and four scores.

Willis is joined on the list by UVA quarterback Bryce Perkins. Perkins set a UVA single-season record with 3,603 yards of total offense last year, which ranked No. 3 in the ACC and 21st in the nation. He was responsible for 34 touchdowns a year ago.

UVA's other Bryce is on the watch list for the Bednarik Award, which goes to the country's defensive player of the year. Bryce Hall chose to return to UVA for his senior year despite being projected as a first round draft pick. He was a first team all ACC pick and a second team all American last year. He led the country with 22 pass break-ups, and tied for the national lead with 24 passes defended.
