CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) -- "Tonight's game is where the circle closes."

The highs and lows of the season came full circle for UVA students, hoping for a victory after a devastating loss last year.

"Gloom spread around the grounds, and everyone was distraught very upset," senior Davis McNulty said.

But McNulty said the 'Hoos heartbreaking loss to UMBC did not crush his spirit.

"In reality, I always knew we'd comeback, I never lost that faith and I always kept that with me."

That was the inspiration behind a shirt McNulty created called 'The Comeback Season.'

For freshman Sambriddy Pandey, this run showed her how the campus can come together.

"As a whole everyone can agree that we want our woos to win so i think its a great way of bridging you know gaps of understanding that we may have at this institution creating a broader community," Pandey said.

Whether a student is a freshman, or a senior, the lessons learned reach far beyond the court.

"Always keep positivity, always stay in good faith, or never underestimate an opponent that you may face in life in general."
