William Byrd at Lord Botetourt
Lord Botetourt won the first meeting in Vinton in the regular season pretty handily, and it looked like the same might happen early in this one.
On the first Lord Botetourt drive, quarterback James-Ryan Salvi gets flushed out of the pocket and launched a bomb across his body to Dalton Breese who hauled it in, inside the five-yard line.
Two plays later it's Salvi on the option, flips it to Hunter Rice who powers his way in to cap off a quick 75-yard touchdown drive.
On the next Lord Botetourt possession, Salvi hit Breese in the flat, he put on a spin move but loses the football! Byrd's Joshua Moore is there with the scoop and he would score! The Terriers right back in this game to tie it up at 7.
The Cavaliers though aren't fazed one bit. Salvi goes back upstairs this time finding Kyle Arnholt in stride for a huge gain.
After a penalty, Botetourt goes to the ground game, Rice running off tackle but he puts the ball on the ground this time! This was the second fumble for Lord Botetourt, and the Terriers take over.
Second-quarter, Logan Baker makes a quick three-step drop and throws a beautiful ball right to the endzone and connects with Tyler Dean. The would-be score is wiped out by an offensive pass interference. Terriers would punt away.
Botetourt comes roaring right back, it is Rice, and his engines are running hot. A strong carry down the sideline to set up about a 25-yard field goal as the half was winding down.
Terran Baker's field goal attempt would be blocked! Byrd's Dustin Richards comes away with it and we would go into the half tied at 7 but Lord Botetourt was way too much in the second half as they remain unbeaten on the year, 29-7.
