William Fleming at Lord Botetourt
Lord Botetourt was looking to close out their season remaining undefeated Friday night.
William Fleming starts off the game with the ball, and goes for it on fourth down on the opening drive, and comes up just short of the first down.
Lord Botetourt also looking to make moves early, handed it off Hunter Rice who finds a hole and brings the Cavaliers inside the 10. They strike first with a field goal.
The Colonels, looking to gain some momentum, handed it off to Shareef Anderson who broke some tackles and ended just a few yards short of the first down. In comes Dmontra Kasey, who fends off three defenders and secures the pass from quarterback Deaquan Nichols for the first down. The next pass, intended for Kasey, gets intercepted by Kyle Arnholt who takes that ball all the way down the other end for the first touchdown of the game.
The score stood at 17-0 heading into the second quarter.
Cavaliers were looking to take another strike in the endzone before getting picked by Fleming's Christopher Nelson. A defensive pass interference will then negate that play.
Into the fourth and Rice takes over his team's final scoring drive starting with a run, breaking tackles, putting the Cavaliers inside the 10. Rice then drops the handoff but quickly recovers and lands into the endzone yet again. This time called back for a penalty on Bryson Oliver. Along with persistence, he puts up his fourth touchdown of the night.
Lord Botetourt takes the game 38 to 14, along with an undefeated season, making it their first since the 1960s.
