VDOT: I-81 back open in Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - UPDATE: VDOT says all lanes of I-81 in Montgomery County are back open.

ORIGINAL STORY: According to the Virginia Department of Transportation in Salem, a detour is in place at exit 118. There are also 5 miles of congestion and an extended closure is expected.

The northbound left lane, right lane, and right shoulder are closed at mile marker 127.8 due to a “high priority incident”, said VDOT.

Motorists can expect delays going northbound past Christiansburg at mile markers 125.9 and 127.8, between Hollow Seneca Rd. and North Fork Rd. exits.
