CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (WDBJ) - One person was found dead in the aftermath of a mobille home fire in Christiansburg, and three others were hurt, according to the Town of Christiansburg.

Relatives of the victims told WDBJ7 three of those people, including the one who died, are children.

“That’s just devastating, it really is,” one resident of the neighborhood said. “I hate to see anybody get hurt. That bothers me more than anything.”

Shortly after midnight the morning of February 19, 2026, fire crews were called to reports of a fire in the 1600 block of Peppers Ferry Road.

“I just [saw] from my window smoke, fire, really strong fire going up,” the resident said. “I couldn’t tell if it was the dumpster or not, and I called the cops... I come outside and went to the end of the trailer, I looked up and seen that it was a bunch of smoke and then I knew it was a trailer.”

The Christiansburg Fire Department and Blacksburg Fire Department responded.

Crews found the home engulfed in flames, with four people inside at the time of the fire. One person died at the scene, according to town officials, and two others were transported to Wake Forest Medical Center. A fourth person was treated for minor injuries at a hospital and released.

The relative confirmed the people transported to Wake Forest were the two other children. They are receiving burn treatment.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
