ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - You can make your voice heard concerning camping fees on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Camping season will be here before you know it and camping at one of the eight locations on the Blue Ridge Parkway may cost you a little more this year.

The National Park Service is looking for your opinion on the proposed camping fee changes.

Currently the front country campground site rate is twenty dollars and they are looking to raise that to thirty dollars.

A National Park Service official said this is because of the rising operation costs.

“In order to implement a fee change, we’re required to do a survey of other similar services in off park neighboring communities and so that research pointed us to the particular rate increase,” said Leesa Brandon, External Affairs Specialist.

She said these proposed changes could start as soon as this year.

The survey is open until March 15th.
