ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - The Roanoke City Sheriff’s Office will host the first of four fundraisers to support the Special Olympics of Virginia Saturday, May 11, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The Roanoke City Sheriff’s Office is partnering with Red Robin on Valley View Blvd in Roanoke to host its third annual Cover the Cruiser and Tip the Deputy fundraiser in support of the Special Olympics of Virginia.

For the Cover the Cruiser initiative, there will be a cruiser parked in front of Red Robin with a goal of covering the entire vehicle with donation pledge cards. Donations can be made in cash or debit/credit cards.

Roanoke City Sheriff’s Office personnel will also volunteer as “celebrity waiters” in the Tip the Deputy initiative and will serve guests during the event. All tips earned by personnel will go towards supporting the Special Olympics of Virginia.
