Franklin County teen paints her way to a career path
ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - This is the time of year when our high school graduates get that hard-earned diploma and plan out the next steps to adulthood.
For seniors, that may mean a typical 4-year college or university. However, for an increasing number of others, their path may look a little different. We caught up with one high school senior who had her eyes on that path for quite a while now, and at 18 years of age, is using her creativity to become an entrepreneur.
Maddie Ford taught herself how to do what’s called “Nail Art” when she was in 7th grade. She was always interested in art, but when she went to get her nails done with her grandmother, she fell in love with this different type of art form.
Maddie explains how she took this interest and has made it into a career - graduating early and getting her business license. She launched “Mad Nails” and has customers traveling more than 30 minutes to have her do their nails.
Listen to our conversation and see more on Maddie’s social media platforms on Instagram and Facebook.
