ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - Bridging the political divide in America might be a tall order, but the documentary ‘Undivide Us’ delivers a hopeful message about people working together despite their political differences.

The non-profit Yorktown Foundation for Public Policy is presenting the documentary at the Grandin Theatre Wednesday night at 7.

The project brought together people with diverse views to discuss some of the most controversial issues of our time.

Ben Klutsey is the Executive Director of the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, and one of the producers of the documentary.

“And once we do have the interaction, and once we’re not being nudged to get into battle with each other, we realize that, oh, we actually have a lot in common,” Klutsey said in an interview. “We do disagree on important topics, but we don’t see each other as enemies.” Todd Hester is Founder and President of the non-profit Yorktown Foundation for Public Policy.

“The film is pretty deliberate about not trying to evangelize anyone to one side or the other,” Hester told WDBJ7. “In fact, that’s kind of the point, that we’re getting along above and beyond those differences.”

Klutsey will attend the screening Wednesday night and answer questions from the audience.

The event is free, but organizers are asking people to register online: eventbrite.com/e/undivide-us-roanoke-tickets-950151267017?aff=oddtdtcreator
