MORNIN’ MOTIVATIONS: Deciding to make a change can improve relationships, career and wellbeing
Author and blogger Caitlyn Scaggs says her mantra is “Nothing changes if nothing changes”
ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - Change can be hard.
But according to author and lifestyle blogger Caitlyn Scaggs, sometimes we have to do it to have a better handle on our health, relationships and careers.
“A mantra that has been on my mind lately, ‘Nothing changes if nothing changes.’ It may sound silly and over simplistic but often the simple solution is the best,” says Scaggs.
WDBJ7 asked Scaggs, how do you know when it’s time to make a change?
“This advice is something I had to take back in January. I realized I no longer loved running like I used to and it was largely because I felt so many aches and pains. I heard myself telling my husband about it over and over but I realized I was doing nothing different. At that moment, I decided “nothing changes if nothing changes” and I made adjustments. I began drinking more water, I got new running shoes that were more supportive and I began seeing a chiropractor. I didn’t do anything dramatic or huge but simply considered what could help and tried those things out. I’m so happy to share that my runs are enjoyable again and the changes I made really had an impact!“, says Scaggs.
“At the most basic level, if you want something to change you must take steps to make it so. Spontaneous change won’t come about. Consider what next right step you can take, however small,” she adds.
