Rivermont Roanoke Southwest School abuse cases dismissed

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - Misdemeanor child abuse cases against three Rivermont Roanoke Southwest School staff members have been dismissed in Roanoke City Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
Back in May, the employees were served with warrants on misdemeanor charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor over allegations they physically abused a child with special needs.
The charges against all three men were dismissed in Roanoke JDR Court with prejudice. This means that there was no conviction, and the charges cannot be refiled. An attorney representing the three men said they believe charges have never been brought against them.
Munro Byrd, P.C., which is representing the three staff members, issued the following statement to WDBJ7:
It is our position that the criminal charges should never have been brought. We intend to take the necessary legal action to protect and restore our clients’ reputations.
