EARLY YEARS: Patrick Henry HS grad says West End Center helped shape her life
The Roanoke center provides after-school and full-day summer programs for school-aged kids
ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - All year, the West End Center for Youth in Roanoke offers a safe space for school- aged kids to learn and thrive.
This summer, it has a record-breaking 153 kids enrolled for educational, social, emotional and recreational activities.
Recent Patrick Henry High School graduate Veronica Nibitango is a success story. She spent years at the West End Center as a child, and is now working at the center.
According to the West End Center, “she swam, played soccer, served as class vice president, held a part-time job, and earned five scholarships to attend Virginia Commonwealth University this fall.”
Nibitango also received the prestigious Patriot Award and was inducted into the PH Student Hall of Fame.
