Nine people, four pets rescued from Galax floodwaters
GALAX, Va. (WDBJ) - Nine people and four pets were rescued from floodwaters Friday, July 18, according to Pipers Gap Rescue Squad.
Crews responded at 4:59 p.m. to the area of Pipers Gap Road and Old Quaker.
Galax Fire and Rescue and Carroll County Emergency Management assisted the public with getting out of floodwaters to safety.
Galax Fire says 25 residents got themselves out of a mobile home park on Macy Drive.
No injuries or hospitalizations were reported.
Assisting agencies were Pipers Gap Rescue, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Carroll County Emergency Services, Virginia State Police, Galax Police Department, Hillsville Fire Department, Laurel Fork Fire Department, Virginia Department of Forestry, and Twin County E-911.
