Here @ Home has tips for dealing with negative behaviors in early childhood and beyond
ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - When children act out more than occasionally -- the first step to dealing with problem behavior is to find out what’s behind it.
To offer some tips for dealing with negative behaviors in early childhood and beyond, Cindy Levasseur with Blue Ridge Behavioral Healthcare joins us on Here @ Home.
Levasseur says parenting methods have transformed from strict disciplinarian to a more active parenting style.
Families are busier mostly because both parents have to work full-time to make ends meet.
She mentions for parents to be mindful of how many activities children are involved in outside of the home.
Family time is equally important and children need some down time.
The use of full-time daycare/sitters is now common practice.
She also explains how electronics have become unhealthy and a distraction tool.
As a society, we have to get children back to a play-based childhood instead of a technology-dependent one.
Listen in to our conversation and Family Wellness Roanoke offers free virtual parenting classes where parents are provided evidence-based parenting strategies that have been proven to work.
