Police in search of missing 42-year-old man

BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - The Roanoke Police Department is in search of a missing 42-year-old man they said was last reported seen December 2025 in Goodview, VA.

James Alan Johnson is described as a caucasian man, 5′11″ and 185 pounds, with several tattoos, black hair and blue eyes.

Johnson was last reported seen wearing a black hoodie, jeans, and carrying a black backpack, according to the AWARE Foundation.

He also has a medical condition that requires medication and he may need medical attention, the AWARE Foundation said.

A family member told police Johnson is believed to have been on his way to an appointment in Roanoke on Dec. 29, 2025.

Roanoke Police Department is asking anybody with information in regard to his whereabouts to contact the agency at (540)-853-2212.
