UVA’s Odom credits players, assistant coaches for creating trust in team so quickly
Odom says the buy-in from his seniors has helped the transition to his staff become much easier
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WDBJ) - For just a first year coach leading the Virginia Cavaliers into the NCAA Tournament, head coach Ryan Odom’s team looks like a well-oiled machine that’s been playing together for longer than one season.
As the Hoos prepare to travel to Philadelphia for round one against Wright State, Odom says that trust has helped make his players better for postseason play, saying “ You have to have that trust between coaches and players. My best teams, we’ve had that, where they feel comfortable saying something....they see something, I don’t want you to be afraid of saying it. These guys have played a lot of basketball.“
Virginia takes the 3-seed against 14th seeded Wright State Friday at 1:50pm.
