(Gray News) - President Donald Trump is asking ABC and Disney to fire Jimmy Kimmel after the late-night host made a joke calling First Lady Melania Trump an “expectant widow.”

The first lady called for ABC to “take a stand.”

Kimmel made the joke Thursday night in a sketch where he was pretending to be the hired comedian at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

“Our First Lady, Melania, is here. Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow,” Kimmel said.

On Monday, President Trump called for Kimmel to be fired over the joke.

“Jimmy Kimmel should be immediately fired by Disney and ABC,” he said on Truth Social.

Earlier Monday on X, the first lady called Kimmel’s remarks “hateful and violent.”

“Kimmel’s hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country. His monologue about my family isn’t comedy — his words are corrosive and deepen the political sickness within America,” she said.

Melania Trump added, “Enough is enough. It is time for ABC to take a stand.”

“People like Kimmel shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate,” she said.

Kimmel’s jokes were made two days before shots were fired in the lobby of the hotel during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

Representatives for Kimmel and ABC have not commented.
