Project Imagine launches pilot housing program
DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ) - A new program in Danville is helping young people understand how to secure stable housing.
Project Imagine is a community violence intervention model that started in 2018.
Leaders in the community work closely with troubled youth to help get them on the right path.
They recently started a pilot housing program for young people between the ages of 18 and 24.
The four week class teaches them how to become homeowners and renters so they can have a brighter future.
“As the housing market here continues to grow and the economy in Danville, as we continue to provide access for these young individuals, it improves the city,” said Violence Prevention Manager for Danville. “People have a different perspective of what the city is.”
David says they hope to get grant funding to be able to expand it past the four weeks and pair them with local housing resources.
