Tuesdays of Honor: The Brown Brothers
Four brothers who all served in the armed forces
ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - This week’s Tuesdays of Honor was sent to us from a sister, Betty Ballengee, who wants to honor her four brothers who all served during the Korean and Vietnam wars.
PFC Don Brown served in Japan as a medic from 1951 to 1954.
PFC Jack Brown served state-side from 1952 to 1955. He was drafted on his 18th birthday and was selected for 6-weeks of “special training” at Pikes Peake for Korean duty but did not have to deploy.
Mom says this was great news!
Corporal George “Bill” Brown also served state side from 1953 to 1956 mostly at Fort Bliss, Texas as this was nearing the end of the Korean conflict.
PFC Bobby Brown entered the service in 1959 and served until 1962. After basic he went to White Sands, New Mexico as security at the atomic missile range.
He later served four years in the reserves and trained for Vietnam but never had to report for duty.
And happy birthday to Bobby who is the only brother whose still living…he just turned 90 years old this year.
If you’d like to honor someone who served, submit their photo and information to WDBJ7.com.
Tune in next Tuesday for another hometown veteran you won’t wanna miss.
