Caesars Virginia creates Blackjack Dealer School in Danville
DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ) - In case you’re looking for a career change, Caesars Virginia is offering a way to get your foot in the door in gaming or hospitality at its upcoming Blackjack Dealer School in Danville.
It’s a direct connection to employment at Caesars Virginia. In partnership with Klimb Jobs for community outreach, the casino is offering on-the-spot hiring.
The school will be held at Caesars Virginia Casino Resort, 1100 W. Main St. in Danville, and will offer classes Monday through Friday, Aug. 31 through Sept. 4.
Participants may attend one of two sessions: 8 a.m. to noon or noon to 4 p.m.
Beyond the dealer school, Caesars has more than 60 active job openings. Kimberly Harris, the President of Klimb Jobs, said they are seeing a rise in underemployed workers looking for a fresh start. Harris said this is a rare chance for people in smaller towns to find major career growth close to home.
“You’re training right there in a casino with the world’s greatest blackjack dealers. Also, you’re touring. We have great opportunities. And also, you can see if it’s a good culture fit for you, being there. There’s actually training on-site, so you get to see all the ins and outs. It’s not like a typical training or job interview where you’re off-site. You are seeing what it really looks like to work in a casino, the excitement, the fast pace,” said Harris.
Harris said transportation is often a major hurdle for job seekers, so Caesars is offering free rides to and from Greensboro to the casino in Danville.
Individuals interested in attending the Blackjack Dealer School should bring a valid state ID or driver’s license, an original birth certificate, and Social Security card.
