Woman identified in Sunday morning Southeast Roanoke shooting

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) Update:
Police identify the victim of the Sunday morning shooting in Southeast Roanoke as a 24-year-old woman.

Officials say Salonya Evans, 24, of Roanoke was killed just before 1:15 a.m. on Morehead Avenue.

One woman is dead after a shooting in Southeast Roanoke.

Roanoke police responded to a call for shots fired overnight. They say it happened just before 1:15 a.m. in the 900 block of Morehead Ave. Southeast.

Police say when they arrived, they found the woman, who was pronounced dead. Her identity isn’t being released yet until notifications are made.

This is under investigation by Roanoke City Police. No one has been arrested.
