Parry McCluer Middle School arranges for turkey dinner for families
At the Parry McCluer Middle School, where they encourage you to be kind, they’re offering a little extra kindness for Thanksgiving.
“With a lot of help from community partnerships," said Principal Debbie Gilbert, "my staff and faculty here at the school, we came up with the idea that we’re going to give every family a turkey, a drink, some rolls and a dessert for their Thanksgiving dinner.”
Yep. That’s the basics of dinner for everybody.
“We don’t have the have and the have nots," Gilbert explained. "This is for everybody. Whether you have or you don’t have, it’s just an act of kindness that we wanted to get behind our kids and to say to them: you reach out and you do for people in your community.”
As you might imagine, that means a lot of turkeys – students were still carrying in more as the day went on – as well as some extra special pumpkin loafs for dessert.
“Our café, our Blue Hole café that we have at our school, which is a class, they actually baked all the pumpkin bread that you see on the table,” said Gilbert.
A little extra bit special for Thanksgiving.
Gilbert said: "I think it means a lot for everybody.”
