Brody Hicks, Haley Green earn B'nai B'rith Athletic Achievement Honors

The 66th annual B'nai B'rith Athletic and Achievement Awards were held Monday night in Roanoke.

18 male and 18 female high school athletes from the Roanoke Valley and the New River Valley were honored as nominees for the two Athletic & Acheievment awards.

The awards take into account athletics, academics, and accomplishments in their personal lives.

Glenvar three-sport athlete, Haley Green, took home the female athletic achievement award, while Cave Spring basketball player, Brody Hicks, earned the award for the males.

Both Green and Hicks were surprised, yet thrilled to win the awards.

"It's definitely something I pride myself in, more than anything, just the ability to work hard and put my nose to the grindstone, and just take care of my business," said Hicks. "It was a huge surprise, definitely, just because I know so many of the other guys, and there were some great candidates this year."

"It's a lot of work, and it's a lot of stress, but it's all worth it," Green echoed. "I love playing the three sports that I play, and I love getting the opportunity to represent my school. I was extremely surprised. There were so many great candidates in the room tonight. I was extremely honored."
