Mead-tasting room opens in Downtown Roanoke

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - In downtown Roanoke Thursday morning, Atheling Meadworks celebrated the opening of its mead-tasting room with a ribbon-cutting.

The tasting room has been designed with a boutique atmosphere.

Owner Steve Ausband says he’s excited to see how people in the area respond to their drinks.

“I hope that they have a chance to really enjoy some really high quality mead, learn about mead, and have a chance to come down, visit, enjoy some food and time with friends.”

The family plans to create a speakeasy in the back of the pub this fall.

Atheling is at 123 Campbell Avenue.
