BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ) - The tour continues; that was the message from Charlie Kirk’s wife after the political commentator was shot and killed at a university event in Utah two weeks ago. Now in one of the first stops since his memorial service, crowds at Virginia Tech Wednesday night were eager to keep his life and message alive.

Thousands of people packed in to Burruss Hall to listen to political commentator Megyn Kelly and Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin.

The enthusiasm for Kirk’s organization Turning Point USA is growing on campuses across the country and that includes Virginia Tech.

The Turning Point USA chapter on Tech’s campus just restarted this semester, the chapter said. It has 60 to 70 members, many of them joining in the last couple weeks since Kirk’s death.

Governor Youngkin encouraged this type of political and community engagement with the young people in the crowd.

“As I look out into this room and see thousands of you. I want to repeat the best answer that I have heard. You will be the next Charlie Kirk. That is something to take home tonight,” Governor Youngkin said.

The American Comeback Tour continues at Utah State University September 30.
