RICHMOND, Va. (WDBJ) - The Republican National Committee is filing a lawsuit over Virginia’s redistricting effort.
This is the second lawsuit filed in Tazewell County, in far Southwest Virginia, on the issue.
This one targets election officials instead of state legislature clerks and it challenges the ballot issue language, whereas the previous lawsuit targeted the special session that was called to pass the amendment.
That first lawsuit from in October is already going before the Supreme Court of Virginia.
Voters still have to make their voices heard on the issue in a vote April 21.
The Virginia High Court is allowing that vote to move forward - but will hear the case on its legality later in April.
