Missing senate candidate found dead in truck two days after disappearing, officials say

ERICK, Okla. (KSWO/Gray News) - An Oklahoma state Senate candidate was found dead in his truck two days after he was reported missing.

Barry Christian, 54, was reported missing on Wednesday after he failed to attend a scheduled meeting.

On Thursday, investigators found Christian’s truck in a rural area, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. That’s where they found Christian dead inside the truck.

Christian was one of three candidates running in the Republican primary for District 38 of the Oklahoma State Senate scheduled for June 16.

His remains were taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, which will determine his cause and manner of death.
