Man arrested after hit-and-run involving child
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ) - Virginia State Police have arrested a Lynchburg man and charged him with hit-and-run, driving while suspended, and inspection violations, following a crash that seriously injured a juvenile Saturday evening.
Police were notified of the crash around 7:43 p.m. in the 6000 block of Pleasant Valley Road in Campbell County.
VSP said a juvenile was playing in a yard and ran into the road, where the child was struck by a driver who did not initially stop. The driver did make a turn back toward the scene after being informed of the crash, but then made a U-turn and continued driving.
A witness identified a license plate, and troopers arrested Ricky J. Davis, 59, of Lynchburg, Saturday evening.
Davis is being held at the Lynchburg Jail.
